The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has honoured Archbishop Dr. Emmah Isong, the National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), South-South Zone, with the Religious Affairs Ambassadorial Award in recognition of his exceptional spiritual leadership and dedication to humanity.
According to the university’s management, the award reflects Archbishop Isong’s unwavering commitment to service, aligning perfectly with UNICAL’s core philosophy—*Knowledge for Service*. Throughout his decades-long ministerial journey, Archbishop Isong has remained a consistent embodiment of this principle, making a significant impact both within and beyond the faith community.
The award was formally presented at the headquarters of Christian Central Chapel International, also known as the City of Testimonies, located in Ikot Ene-Obong, 8 Miles, Calabar. Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, was Prof. Eyong Ubana, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Chairman of the UNICAL at 50 Anniversary Committee.
“We are proud that the knowledge you acquired from the University of Calabar has been used in the service of humanity,” Prof. Obi stated in her remarks delivered by Prof. Ubana. “As part of our 50th-anniversary celebrations, we are honouring distinguished alumni who have flown the flag of this great institution with excellence. You are a shining light, carrying the emblem of UNICAL to the ends of the earth.”
Also present at the ceremony was Dr. Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe, Executive Secretary of the UNICAL NUGA Games, who joined Prof. Ubana in praising Archbishop Isong’s values and influence.
“We recognize your spiritual leadership and your efforts in shaping lives,” Prof. Ubana said. “Your work exemplifies what the University of Calabar stands for. Very few people earn the title ‘Great Malabite (GM)’—you are truly one of them.”
In an emotional response, Archbishop Isong expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his alma mater.
“This honour deeply moves me,” he said. “It’s more than just an award—it’s a call to even greater service. I remain committed to uplifting lives and representing the University of Calabar with pride and purpose.”
Archbishop Isong’s recognition marks another significant moment in UNICAL’s ongoing efforts to celebrate the achievements of its distinguished alumni as part of its golden jubilee celebrations.
