Today is February 10, 2024, which means Valentine’s Day is just four days away. Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating love, romance, and friendship. It’s a time to appreciate the special people in your life—whether they’re friends, family, or romantic partners. For me, it’s a day to spread love and kindness while reaching out to those who matter most.
I’ve written a few Valentine’s Day posts on our blogs, but after seeing someone post a broken heart on her status, I decided to check in on her. From our chat, I learned she had just been served “premium breakfast” (heartbreak) and was devastated. She mentioned how much she wished someone would make her feel loved on Valentine’s Day, but unfortunately, the heartbreak came before the holiday.
For people like her—and for those who’ve been single for a while—finding creative ways to stay productively distracted can help. That’s why I’ve put together this list of events you can attend and things you can do on Valentine’s Day, whether you’re single, separated, or married.

1. Attend the True Love Relationship Conference with Dr. Stephanie Oarhe
The True Love Relationship Conference with Dr. Stephanie Oarhe is arguably the biggest relationship conference in Nigeria right now. Dr. Stephanie has hosted renowned relationship coaches like Fela Durotoye, Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, Mildred Okonkwo, and more.
This year’s theme is “Hearts & Scars,” designed to help those dealing with emotional wounds from heartbreak find healing, so they can love again without carrying emotional baggage. You can attend in person or join online via their social media platforms.
See the flyer for more details.
2. Book a Valentine’s Call for Your Special Person
Imagine your loved one receiving a heartfelt call or a beautifully delivered poem from a professional, expressing how much they’re loved and appreciated. This could be for your best friend, parents, siblings, partner, or anyone you want to make feel special.
I recommend Cherry’s Loveline for this. Check the flyer for details.

3. Attend a Comedy Show
Laughter is the best medicine—it makes you feel happier, younger, and more relaxed. Get tickets to a comedy show for yourself, your partner, or your friends.
If you’re in Port Harcourt, KO Baba is hosting a special Valentine’s Day show called VVIP Unwind, exclusively for 50 couples. It includes a three-course meal, premium comedy, and classy accommodation.
See the flyer for more details.

4. Go for a Spa Session
Last year, someone booked a spa session for a friend that included facials, a pedicure, a manicure, and a steam bath. Guess what? Today, they’re dating!
A spa session can spark a connection, rekindle romance, or simply help you relax. It’s not just for women—a woman can book it for her man too. You can’t go wrong with a spa day.
I recommend Kosher Spa in Old GRA, Port Harcourt. Check the flyer for more info.
5. Go for a Concert
There are plenty of concerts on Valentine’s Day. One cool thing about concerts? You can be crying over heartbreak, but no one will know because it’s all part of the vibe!
Whether it’s a worship concert or a secular event, just go and enjoy yourself.
6. Movie Date
I’m not a big fan of movies myself. The first time I went to the cinema was to check out an ad a client paid for. The second time, I was with someone I liked and ended up sleeping through it. The third time was for my mom’s birthday.
But that’s just me—lots of people love movies. So, if that’s your thing, head to the nearest cinema and have a great time.
7. Book a Nice Hotel and Chill
If you’re planning to book a hotel, do it today before they’re fully booked. Treat yourself to some peace and luxury. You deserve it.

8. Go for a Picnic
If your partner is up for it, plan a picnic. I haven’t done one myself, but I’ve seen people have fun with it. Picnics are a great way to bond, have deep conversations, and create beautiful memories.
9. Propose to Your Partner
Valentine’s Day is one of the most romantic days to propose. If you’ve been thinking about it, this is your sign to go for it! You can also shoot your shot with someone you’ve been crushing on.
10. Visit an Orphanage with Gifts
For me, Valentine’s Day is about spreading love, especially to those who can’t repay you. There are many less privileged children in orphanages who would appreciate gifts like food items, clothes, or even cash donations.
Final Thoughts
Don’t put pressure on yourself. It’s okay to cry if you need to, but pick yourself up and keep moving forward. Being single is not a disease. If you’ve lost a partner, I pray that God heals your heart and restores your joy.
Most importantly, love yourself and spread love to others. Put a smile on someone’s face—not just on Valentine’s Day, but every day. Let’s make the world a better place by loving people genuinely.
Note: If you’re not in Port Harcourt, ignore my local recommendations and find similar events in your city.
