From Clients To Soulmates : How Business Brought Us Love
Happiness & Chris: A Beautiful Journey as shared by happiness
The first time I met Chris was in 2020. A sister of mine asked me to pick something up from his office. At the time, I had heard of Chris Patrick, but we had never met. When I arrived at his office, I was really thirsty, and he offered me bottled water. His hospitality and warm reception left a lasting impression on me. He was kind, respectful, and professional — I was genuinely wowed.
I left, not expecting anything more. But in 2021, shortly after returning from NYSC camp, I needed to work on some branding. The first person that came to mind was Chris. I remembered how well he treated me during our first meeting, so I reached out. I asked for his office location, but he told me he had moved to a bigger space. I was so impressed , just within a year, his business had grown. That was when I learned he’s the founder of CPI Creations.
From then on, I made him my official brand partner. I never felt the need to look for anyone else Chris is simply that good. Every time I had a project, I’d send him the brief, make payment, and he would deliver excellently. He was consistent and reliable.
Later that year, I returned to Warri to continue my NYSC. We didn’t get to see again until one day when he was invited to my church for a worship meeting. Chris is a music minister and a skilled trumpet player. He came, ministered, and left. We didn’t even speak — we weren’t close yet.
Fast forward to 2022, we began to talk more often and became friends. We would exchange business ideas frequently. I discovered that he was bold, determined, and very passionate — qualities I also deeply value. It felt like we were operating on the same wavelength.
One time, I shared an idea with him, casually. A few weeks later, he reached out and told me he had acted on it — and it worked! I was touched. It felt special knowing that he valued my opinion and used my advice. Over time, I noticed he often picked up on things I said in conversation, applied them, and they worked. Our bond started growing stronger.
Then came his birthday in 2022. I got him a thoughtful gift, and when he opened it, he got emotional. He said no one had ever given him anything that made him feel that special. I’m naturally someone who goes the extra mile for those I care about, so I told him he deserved it. From that moment, he became even more intentional with me — calling more often, checking in, being present.
One Sunday, I saw him in my church, House on the Rock, and asked, “You now attend HOTR?” He said he didn’t, he just comes around sometimes. We greeted after the service and went our separate ways, but it became a thing. He’d call to ask if I was going to church and ask me to reserve a seat. Sometimes, I’d do the same. It was subtle, but beautiful — we were becoming more than friends, even without realizing it.
Then one Sunday after church, he asked me out for lunch. I said yes. That lunch date made things clearer , something was blooming between us.
On a Thursday after midweek service, he said he wanted us to talk. We met at Sammie’s, a restaurant near church. He bought different flavours of ice cream and told me to close my eyes and pick one. I picked the exact one he bought for himself, and we both smiled — it was a sweet, light-hearted moment.
Then came the big moment — May 4th, 2023.
He looked at me and asked,
“Will you be my girlfriend?”
I was stunned! Sure, who won’t say yes to Greatness.
