Places Single Christians Can Meet People for Relationships and Marriage Aside from Church

Meeting good people for relationships or marriage is becoming a daunting task, especially for Christians whose lives revolve solely around church and work. Many Christians only hope to meet a brother or sister in church, with only a few having more opportunities. In contrast, non-religious individuals have numerous places they frequent, increasing their chances of meeting new people and potentially establishing relationships that could lead to marriage.

While most Christians can go out, there are places they may avoid and people they might choose not to associate with to maintain their values. However, there are still places where they can meet potential partners without compromising their Christian beliefs. Such places include:

  1. Social Media

Six out of ten marriages begin on social media platforms. Social media provides a great platform for meeting people. For example, Moses Bliss met Marie on Instagram, even though she lived in the UK. Many people have met their partners on social media and are happily together. I will write another post on how to position yourself online to attract a potential partner, but here are a few tips:

  • Be Intentional
  • Be Genuine
  • Engage
  • Share Value
  • Showcase your Intelligence
  1. Social Clubs

There are numerous social organizations and clubs unrelated to questionable activities, such as the Polo Club, Rotary Club, and Red Cross. Joining these clubs provides opportunities to meet and connect with new people.

  1. Gym

The gym isn’t just a place for exercise; it’s also an opportunity to meet new people. Apart from helping with weight loss and fitness, going to the gym allows for social interactions. Look for a gym in your area, and remember to present yourself well and be socially engaging.

  1. Concerts and Shows

If you’re in Lagos, Abuja, or Port Harcourt, there are hundreds of concerts happening every week. Choose one that interests you and attend. Comedy shows are also excellent opportunities to meet people. Follow show promoters, influencers, and bloggers in your city to stay updated on the latest events. Arrive on time to engage with people and initiate conversations.

  1. Bus, Train, and Flights

Public transportation provides a great opportunity to meet new people. My first train experience was memorable; traveling from Abuja to Port Harcourt via Lokoja-Warri train, I found myself engaged in stimulating conversations. A lady commended my focus on a book I was reading, sparking a conversation that led to a discussion with other travelers about Nigerian schools, politics, and culture. From that conversation, we formed a connection, learning about each other’s backgrounds and professions. Flights and other means of transportation offer similar opportunities. Instead of burying yourself in your phone, start conversations with fellow travelers. Be observant and respectful, and if someone isn’t interested, respect their space.

  1. Your Neighborhood

Take walks around your neighborhood, greet people, and attend local events. Dress comfortably and strike up conversations with those you encounter.

  1. Weddings

Many love stories begin at weddings. Attend weddings and be open to connecting with people.

  1. Shopping Malls

Popular shopping malls like ShopRite, Spar, and Market Square offer networking opportunities beyond shopping. You can meet potential clients, customers, and friends.

  1. Conferences, Workshops, Summits

Attending these events provides opportunities to meet valuable people and expand your network.

Conclusion

The partner you seek is out there, but you must make an effort to meet them. Just as Jesus actively engaged with people, go out and be intentional. Remember to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit as you navigate these interactions.
